(TOLAB)
The research program at TOLAB employs cutting-edge techniques, including behavioral analysis, molecular biology, immunolabeling, electrophysiology, and classical biochemical methods, to advance the understanding of the neurobiological mechanisms underlying learning and memory deficits, particularly in the context of Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). Key research areas focus on identifying the distinct factors driving neuronal degeneration across different neuronal populations and uncovering the intermediary processes that disrupt cellular functions in AD. Our work aims to uncover the intrinsic properties of vulnerable neuronal subpopulations, with an emphasis on sex-specific determinants, by exploring pathophysiological pathways related to oxidative stress, inflammation, NMDA receptor dysregulation, and cholinergic dysfunction.
